One of the most dramatic and rapturous works in the literature concludes our season. You will be swept away by Chausson’s surging and impulsive masterwork, expertly and passionately realized by our soloists, David Perry, violin, and Jeannie Yu, piano, framed by our string quartet including Ann Palen, Dawn Wohn, Sally Chisholm, and Cole Randolph. It’s a unique work, orchestral in concept and monumental in scope. Fellow Frenchman Théodore Dubois’s Quintet, featuring oboist Lindsay Flowers, sets the tone with gaiety and élan. You only have two chances to hear this program. We strongly suggest the Gala on Labor Day for all the festivities and fine food to celebrate another glorious season.

Quintet in F Major (1905) • Théodore Dubois
Oboe, Violin, Viola, Cello, and Piano

Concerto for Violin, Piano, and String Quartet, Op. 21 • Ernest Chausson
Solo Violin, Solo Piano, and String Quartet

Write On, Door County poet Ed DiMaio will present a poem written inspired by music from this program.

Musicians
Lindsay Flowers, Oboe
Jeannie Yu, Piano
David Perry, Ann Palen, and Dawn Wohn, Violin
