Midsummer’s Music 2021 Season Begins June 18

Celebrating Beethoven at 250!

Sister Bay, Wis. – June 4, 2021 – Midsummer’s Music, whose concerts have been hailed as “exciting, pulse-pounding, and riveting,” will present a season of live, in-person performances starting June 18. Audiences will be wowed with a spectacular 2021 series that celebrates Beethoven at 250 and includes new and larger venues for a signature lineup spotlighting an inclusive combination of familiar and lesser-known composers played by world-class musicians David Perry and Ann Palen (violins), Sally Chisholm and Allyson Fleck (violas), James Waldo (cello), Heather Yarmel (flute), Daniel Won (clarinet), John Goodwin and Jeannie Yu (pianos), and more.

Always a special celebration, opening night will be at 7:00pm, June 18, at Northern Sky Theater’s new Gould Theater in Fish Creek, marking Midsummer’s first performance in this striking space. Wisconsin Public Radio’s knowledgeable and charismatic Norman Gilliland will welcome concertgoers to the season premiere performance featuring Mozart’s Piano Quartet in G Minor, Beethoven’s Clarinet Trio in B-flat, and Saint-Saëns’ Piano Quartet in B-flat Major, Op. 44. This breathtaking program will repeat at SWY in Sturgeon Bay as a 3:00pm matinée on June 20, and at 7:00pm at the spacious Door Community Auditorium – the audience will be seated on stage with musicians – in Fish Creek on June 22.

The summer series of fabulous concerts continues through Labor Day with pieces by Rebecca Clarke, Adela Maddison, Ernst von Dohnányi, Johann Baptist Vanhal, Sergei Liapunov, William Grant Still, Pedro (Pere) Tintorer, Robert Schumann, and Pyotr Tchaikovsky, along with Midsummer’s new 2021 Composer-in-Residence Will Healy and 2021 Fellows Paul Fruct and Quinn Mason.

The captivating John Clare from SiriusXM and St. Louis Classic 107.3 will join Midsummer’s at Björklunden on Labor Day for a rousing, hybrid, in-person/virtual gala commemorating an innovative and unique concert season.

Reservations for all concerts must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Before making concert plans or purchasing tickets, concertgoers should review Midsummer’s COVID-19 policy at midsummersmusic.com.
