Midsummer’s Music Ltd. presents its resident string quartet in two free winter concerts. The group plays Friday, December 14, at 6:00 pm at Hope United Church of Christ in Sturgeon Bay, and Saturday, December 15, at 3:00 pm at the Kress Pavilion in Egg Harbor.
The repertoire for the concert includes String Quartet No. 20 in D, K. 499, “Hoffmeister” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and String Quartet No. 3 in F Major, Op. 73, by Dmitri Shastakovich, as well as a large selection of familiar holiday favorites and a sing-along with two carols.
The resident string quartet was founded in the fall of 2018 by Midsummer’s Music with support from St. Norbert College and the Fine Arts Institute at East High in Green Bay, and it is currently comprised of Roy Meyer (violin), Vinicius Sant’Ana (violin), Blakeley Menghini (viola), and Ryan Louie (cello). The quartet members are young, highly accomplished musicians who will be providing concerts, workshops, and instruction to all ages in the Door and Brown County communities from September through May.
Receptions with tasty treats follow both concerts, and concertgoers can mingle with the musicians. Concert seating is open and without reservations or tickets. Donations will be accepted at the door. Suggested $10.
Midsummer’s Music thanks Door County Medical Center, Innovative Printing, OneTouchPoint, Tea Thyme, and the Foxglove Inn for their support for these concerts.
