The 100+ Women Who Care of Door County (100+WWC) giving circle’s philanthropic impact continues to grow and grow. The January giving event recognized and awarded gifts to three local nonprofits. In four years, the circle has grown to 381 givers (individuals and teams) and has awarded over $394,000 to 47 Door County nonprofit organizations.
Three nonprofits: We Are HOPE, Inc., Midsummer’s Music, Clean Water Action Council discussed their organizations and initiatives.
We are HOPE, INC. received the primary award of $13,750. Kim Carley, Executive Director of We Are HOPE, Inc., reflected on her experience with the organization. “I am passionate about our work; over 20 years ago I walked into the doors of this organization needing the services. I enrolled in many programs and I began volunteering. Starting as a humble paper shredder and working my way to Executive Director has taught me that we have to put in the effort, and none of us can do it alone. I am who I am today because of the community resources, inspiring colleagues, motivational mentoring and above all collaboration. I am proud to play a part in a collaboration of individuals that empowers our community to employment success! Thanks to 100+WWC for enabling these services and motivating others.”
Sherry Mutchler, a committed 100+WWC member nominated We are HOPE, Inc. Sherry noted, “100+WWC is organized to give back to community resources while providing camaraderie and linking like-minded women toward the common good. 100+WWC provides an opportunity to help multiple agencies with their mission by pooling our resources to make a bigger impact.”
Midsummer’s Music and the Clean Water Action Council each received an award of $6,875.
Allyson Fleck, 100+WWC member and Midsummer’s Music Executive Director commented, “Midsummer’s Music(MM) is grateful for community support, such as 100+WWC! We are all making a difference in the lives of all generations and people in Door County. MM programs offer world-class music all year round. The string quartet residency presents to youth in classrooms, libraries, community centers, and more. We provide intimate concerts to those with Alzheimer’s or Dementia as well as their caregivers. As a musician, I attest to music’s impact, especially for those in isolation, through our myriad of free or little-cost offerings. Thank you for this special award!”
Kim Larson, 100+WWC Member and advocate for the Clean Water Action Council, remarked,“It’s such an empowering experience to have the opportunity to share the passion we have as supporters of non-profit organizations, to make a difference. Clean Water Action Council was my first nomination as a member of 100+WWC. Sharing my story of discovery, education, support, and activism really helped clarify why it was so important to me to become an active member: this organization monitors serious threats to our environment, protects the water we need to live and enjoy in this unique natural wonder we call Door County. Thank you to the 100+ Women Who Care!”
Door County Habitat for Humanity (DCHfH), represented by Lori Allen, Executive Director, was the returning award recipient and updated the group on the growth of the DC Habitat’s services and the results from the October 2021 100+WWC gift.
