Midsummer’s Music Welcomes New Board Members

Sister Bay, Wis. – March 25, 2022 – Midsummer’s Music draws on the wisdom and guidance from individuals who comprise the board of directors. Board members typically exhibit a special, continued dedication to Midsummer’s Music through their support for the organization, musicians and staff. Midsummer’s welcomes Karin Myers and Phillip G. Clampitt, PhD, who recently began three-year terms.

Karin Myers holds an MBA from the University of Michigan with an emphasis on accounting and finance, plus a BA in computational mathematics and a minor in business economics from DePauw University. She has spent her career working in finance, accounting, and systems analysis with JCPenny, Arthur Andersen, the Summerwood Homeowners Association, and the Castleview Baptist Church. In April, Karin will join the board’s executive committee and assume the responsibilities of Treasurer, when current Treasurer Nancy Borghesi transitions to her new role on the board. In her free time, Karin enjoys Bible study, tennis, golf, and gardening, but most of all helping in any way with her grandchildren.

Phillip G. Clampitt earned his PhD from the University of Kansas and is the Blair Endowed Chair of Communication at the University of Wisconsin—Green Bay, where he was previously designated the Hendrickson Named Chair of Business. The author of Sage Publication’s best-seller Communicating for Managerial Effectiveness (Sixth Edition), his work on “Decision Downloading,” which details how companies can effectively communicate decisions to those not in the decision-making process, has been highlighted by The Wall Street Journal and MIT Sloan Management Review. He has co-authored leadership books, contributed chapters to other business and communications publications, and been a guest speaker at universities and numerous multinational businesses and professional organizations. His most recent book, Clear Thinking in an Age of Hype, Nonsense, and Anxiety is available on iBooks or Amazon Kindle. As a principal in his firm, Metacomm, he consults on communication issues with a variety of nationally known businesses, and he created the website www.DrSoWhat.com devoted to improving critical thinking and communication practices and featuring free communications tips and tool kits.

Midsummer’s Music thanks Arlene Johnson and Nancy Goldberg, whose board terms recently expired, for their years of service. Since 2016, Arlene and Nancy worked tirelessly with the Gracenotes, Midsummer’s Music’s dedicated team of volunteers, while also serving on various committees, including the marketing committee. Both have graciously hosted Midsummer’s Music musicians in their homes during summer concert seasons. Most recently, Nancy served as the board’s vice president.

Midsummer’s Music celebrates 32 years of bringing chamber music to Door County in 2022. The summer season of concerts begins June 9 and runs through September 5. Visit www.midsummersmusic.com as schedule details are updated.

Midsummer’s Music was co-founded in 1990 by Jim and Jean Berkenstock, long-time Door County summer residents and principal orchestral players with the Lyric Opera of Chicago. What began as two concerts among friends has become one of the Midwest’s most anticipated chamber music series, bringing thousands of chamber music enthusiasts from around the globe to the magical Door County Peninsula.
