Midsummer’s Music: Art imitates life in Clearing show

Jim Berkenstock-headshot_webWe recently performed another concert at The Clearing Folk School in Ellison Bay. The beautiful old Jens Jensen-built “schoolhouse” is a quintessential Midsummer’s Music venue. Sitting high atop the Niagara Escarpment bluff, one can see the waters of Green Bay far below and the distant shore of Michigan through pine branches and the leaves of white birch.

This site and the Hardy Gallery in Ephraim are two of the most iconic Midsummer’s Music venues. The Hardy, where we played the evening before our Clearing concert, also enjoys unique features that enhance the concert going experience. Sitting at the end of Anderson Dock, The Hardy is one of the few places where you can hear music surrounded by water, be entranced by art works hanging on every wall enveloping the performers, and enjoy the most heavenly sunset at intermission.
